Distributors of OptiGen® Genetic Tests
OptiGen holds exclusive licenses to several patented and patent-pending canine genetic tests, as listed below. From time-to-time, another group claims to offer OptiGen tests without permission or appropriate licensing. This summary list will help you identify legitimate providers so that you can obtain the highest quality and most reliable long-term services available.
Australia/New Zealand/ Japan and several Asia Pacific countries:
Genetic Science Services (
www.gtg.com.au) is licensed by OptiGen to be the exclusive provider of prcd-PRA tests and the CEA tests (among other tests) in these regions. In a corollary agreement with GTG, OptiGen agreed to not accept any samples from this territory for any of the tests it offered as of May 2006.
Europe :
No license has been issued to any European company for OptiGen® exclusive tests, in particular the prcd-PRA tests and the CEA tests for all relevant breeds.
Two companies in Europe are approved to act as OptiGen’s agents by receiving blood samples, extracting DNA, and shipping the DNA to OptiGen for testing in the OptiGen labs. These companies are VHL in The Netherlands (
www.vhlgenetics.com) and Antagene in France (
www.antagene.com).
United States and Canada :
No license has been issued to any other company for the OptiGen® exclusive tests and no other company serves as agent for sample shipments. Access to testing directly through OptiGen is easiest done online at this website.
All other locations:
There are no other distributor or agent relationships at present. OptiGen works directly with breeders worldwide to assist with sample shipments and testing.
