По умолчанию NY: Proposed ANTI Tail Docking Bill Makes Criminals out of EXHIBITORS

Извиняюсь, тут не все резинденты Нью-Йорка, однако, жителей Северной Америки может заинтересует.

Permission to crosspost.

Dog shows in NY will fold if this passes. If you are a resident of New York or exhibit at shows there, fast opposition needs to be sent. This bill was referred to the Agriculture Committee on 3/26/09.

Text of the bill: http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A07218&sh=t
" ... Any person who shows or exhibits a dog whose tail has been docked or altered, at a show or other exhibition, is guilty of a misdemeanor, ..."

This link will take you to the listing of the Agriculture Commission members.
http://assembly.state.ny.us/comm/?sec=mem&id=2 By clicking on each member's name, their page is displayed which gives their email address and phone numbers. So far I haven't found a listing with fax numbers so at the moment, emails will have to do.

Keep your message short, sweet, and to the point. In your subject line state, "Oppose AO7218". Then simply state in your own words your objection to the implication that tail docking is improper treatment of dogs.

Remind them that many breeds are safely docked shortly after birth and that many docked dogs travel to New York to be exhibited in dog shows, including the prestigious Westminster K. C. show in NYC. This bill specifically prohibits all of these breeds from entering any show in the state which would result in considerable loss of revenue to the cities and state. Remind them that in these times of fiscal difficulties, any legislation that would cause potential loss of revenue to their state would not be advisable for passage.
