This is your written invitation to join the Brown Poodle Club. As most of you know, when we attended the Poodle Club of America show in Salisbury, Maryland last June, we publicized our plan to start this club and collected a list for those with an interest in joining. Well, we finally made it - the time has come! Listed below are the individuals who have agreed to serve as interim club officers until a formal election by the membership is held.

The first meeting of the club will be held during PCA 2005 at a time and date to be announced later. We anticipate that officers and a Board of Directors would be elected at this meeting.


The purpose of the club is to encourage the exhibition and breeding of brown poodles according to the AKC Breed Standard. To this end, the club will facilitate the sharing and open exchange of knowledge and information on topics such as the breeding, showing, training, grooming, nutrition, health and any other aspects of poodles in general, but with brown poodles most specifically.


Listed below are some of the benefits the club offers to its members:

A. Monthly newsletter that will include:

(1) highlighted brown breeder each month

(2) training tips from other members in obedience, agility, field, and conformation

(3) brag page for those exhibiting in conformation shows, field trials,

obedience, agility, and any other performance events, service and other fields of activity or accomplishments.

(5) litter listings

B. Plans for the future:

(1) Brown Poodle match at PCA. We are trying to estimate how large an entry we would pull if classes were offered for brown poodles at the Match at PCA 2005. Would you enter if classes were offered? Yes ____ No ______

MEMBERSHIP DUES: $20 annually for the first member and $10 for each additional member of the same household.

Dues are payable in U.S. funds by Jan. 1 of each year to remain a member in good standing. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.

CODE OF ETHICS

THE BROWN POODLE CLUB


I will become familiar with and be governed by the rules of the American
Kennel Club. I will strive in my breeding program to improve the quality of brown poodles according to the Poodle Breed Standard. I will avoid indiscriminate or excessive breeding for the purpose of selling puppies. I will not sell to pet dealers or other commercial sources of distribution. I will refuse stud service to any bitch which I consider unsuitable for breeding, or whose owner may not abide by this code of ethics. I will be honest in representing puppies as either "pet" or "show potential". Pet puppies will be sold with limited registration or spay/neuter contracts only. When delivered to new owners, puppies will have proper vaccinations and written instructions on care and feeding, as well as their medical history. I will not charge extra for AKC registration papers or the pedigree. I will always keep my dogs in clean, safe housing, with proper nutrition, regular grooming and proper medical care. I will support the objectives and activities of the club. I will demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times, and in all places.
